When your baby is crying - before taking any further actions go through this checklist. Sometimes it is simple to calm the baby...
1. Are your baby hungry? Many babies are crying of hunger. Try to feed your baby, if your baby is rejecting the food then it's screaming for another reason. Remember: You can never "over-feed" a newborn...
2. Are your baby's diaper dry? Many people are not aware of the fact that wet diapers are very irritating for the baby. Click here to go our diapers page.
3. Talk to your baby all the time. Even if talking is not calming him/her, your baby are aware of your present. It pays back later. Remember: do NOT scream to a crying baby.
4. Try to give your baby a bath. Many babies loves bathing and it will often calm them...
5. Give your baby massage. Baby massage will often calm the baby, sometimes it will even make it go to sleep... Click here to go to our massage page.
6. Let your baby listen to white noise. White noise has a calming effect. You can use a hair dryer, a vacuum cleaner, running water, a white sound machine or whatever you find useful. You can also use the white sounds provided at our site. Download soothing sounds for your crying baby here.
7. Sing. Singing can calm your baby.
8. Take your baby for a drive in the car. A drive in the car is a combination of rocking movements and white noise and is VERY effective.
9. Give your baby soft rocking movements. Show patience, it can take several minutes before the baby stops crying, and a minute feels long when the baby is crying.
10. Put your baby in a baby carriage or stroller and take it for a walk. The combination of fresh air, outside sounds and rocking movements has a very calming effect.
